Capital funding for Changing Places toilets

Share your insights and experiences for a Parliamentary debate

Deadline: midday, Wednesday 15 July

On Thursday 16 July, Daniel Francis MP is leading a debate in Westminster Hall on Capital funding for Changing Places toilets.

To inform his debate, he would like to hear about your experiences:

Deadline: midday, Wednesday 15 July.

Ahead of the debate, he said:

"Changing Places toilets provide a vital facility for over 250,000 disabled people and their carers across the UK who require an accessible public toilet facility, providing the space and equipment for a disabled person to use the toilet when they are out and about.

"Following the closure of the Changing Places Fund in April last year, it is clear to me that a new fund is needed to encourage local authorities, businesses and venues to bring forward more Changing Places facilities.

"My debate in Westminster Hall will highlight the need for funding to create more Changing Places facilities across the UK and highlight examples of where new facilities should be installed.

"I would be grateful to hear from anyone who has recently used a Changing Places toilet, whether personally or when accompanying a person to which you provide care, and about the experiences you had accessing and using the facility."

What is a Backbench Business debate?

Backbench Business debates enable backbench MPs from any party to raise an issue, and receive a response from the government.

They do not involve a vote on a particular action or decision.

Instead, the aim is to:

  • raise awareness of an issue, often as part of a wider campaign
  • seek to influence government policy
  • put the views of backbench MPs, opposition parties, and the government on record.
