In what was a historic moment for Parliament, on Wednesday 8 February the Speaker along with the Lord Speaker, was honoured to welcome the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy to address both Houses in Westminster Hall about the situation in Ukraine.

At the start of the week, the Speaker was proud to mark LGBT+ History Month with a reception in Speaker's House celebrating the contribution made by the LGBT+ community to stage, screen, media and sport.

On Tuesday, the Speaker visited the new electric bike display in Speaker's Court - an initiative by the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) and National Motorcyclists Council (NMC) highlighting decarbonisation and the industry.

On Wednesday, the Speaker chaired Prime Minister's Questions prior to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's address to both Houses of Parliament.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addresses Parliament

Parliament was honoured to be addressed by President Zelenskyy of Ukraine in Westminster Hall. This historic moment demonstrates that the United Kingdom stands shoulder-to-shoulder in support of Ukraine.

Celebrating LGBT+ History Month

The Speaker was proud to mark LGBT+ History Month with a reception in Speaker's House celebrating the contribution made by the LGBT+ community to stage, screen, media and sport. Guests included; Dame Kelly Holmes; Coronation Street actress, Dolly-Rose Campbell; and Broadcaster, Richard Arnold.

7 February

Speaker visits electric bike display in Speaker's Court

The Speaker visited an electric bike display in Speaker's Court. The display, organised with the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) and National Motorcyclists Council (NMC) gave an opportunity to highlight the progress and challenges facing the industry in the transfer to net-zero.
