Flood risk in London
Westminster Hall debate
On Wednesday 20 April 2023, Felicity Buchan MP led a Westminster Hall debate on flood risk in London.
Introducing the topic, she gave the following statement:
"London suffered severe flooding in July of last year, with my constituency of Kensington being particularly badly affected.
"In my debate, I will lay out the extent of the flooding, and explore how Government can hold the relevant agencies and companies to account so that such events do not happen again.
"I will also call for major investment in infrastructure in London’s sewerage system."

How it works
What is a Westminster Hall Debate?
Westminster Hall debates take place in the Grand Committee Room in the House of Commons.
They give MPs an opportunity to raise local or national issues and receive a response from a government minister.
Debates in Westminster Hall take place on ‘general debate' motions expressed in neutral terms. These motions are worded ‘That this House has considered [a specific matter]'.
